# Welcome — finance vault

Use this vault to connect **thesis, positions, transactions, and tax events** so reviews and filings take hours instead of archaeology.

## Principles

1. **One note per significant transaction** (or batched logical event) under `transactions/` with consistent frontmatter if you export to CSV.
2. **Quarterly** roll-up in `reports/` even if short—trend lines matter more than perfect prose.
3. **Tax** notes track status (`estimated`, `reported`, `needs CPA`) without storing full SSN or account numbers.

## Red lines

- No private keys, recovery phrases, or **2FA backup codes** in Markdown.
- No screenshots of balances with **full account numbers**; redact or link to secure storage.

## Suggested weekly habit

- Import or paste exchange CSV into your tool of choice; for anything unusual, add a **narrative note** here explaining intent (gift, bridge, staking reward, etc.).

Tag by asset (`btc`, `icp`), jurisdiction (`us-tax`), and strategy (`long-term-hold`) as your accountant prefers.
